How can I schedule a visit at Motion?

The best way to schedule a visit is to download our app. After signing up and joining as a member, you’ll be able to chat with a Care Advocate, get matched to a Motion clinician based on your condition or injury, and schedule your first appointment.

What are your current hours?

We are here and ready to answer chats, calls, and emails Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Hours and availability for appointment differ by clinician. We promise to get you scheduled with your matched clinician as soon as possible.

How does Motion match me to a clinician?

We have worked with a group of expert MSK clinicians to better understand clinical scope of practice and specific expertise and developed our own matching algorithm. After signing up in our app, you will be asked a series of questions about why you are coming to Motion. Your answers are filtered through the algorithm to match you to the clinician type(s) best suited to care for you.

How long should I expect to need membership?

We expect that most issues and injuries will benefit from 3 months or less of membership and treatment. Our goal is to get you back to things you care about.

Where is the Motion clinic?

We currently have one clinic located in SoMa in San Francisco. Our office is located at 480 2nd Street, at 2nd and Stillman.

What should I expect during my 60 minute new issue visit?

During your first appointment, you and your clinician will work together to determine your goals, which will serve as a roadmap for your work together. You’ll chat with your clinician about how you feel, your relevant medical history, and your lifestyle. You and your clinician will work towards a diagnosis and start developing your treatment plan. If appropriate, you will have the opportunity to receive some hands-on treatment and learn exercises 1-on-1 during the visit.

What should I expect during my 30 minute treatment visit?

Your time will be focused on working with your Care Team on hands-on treatment and functional exercises. During your visit, your clinician will chat with you about your progress and answer any questions that you have about your care.

What specialty services does Motion offer?

At Motion, we carefully consider and research which specialty services to offer to our members. We currently offer Platelet Rich Plasma injections (PRP), Supartz injections, steroid injections and joint aspirations. Ask your Care Advocate about how much you can save on these services as a Motion member.

What time should I arrive for my appointment? Will there be paperwork for me to complete?

We encourage you to come to our clinic before your appointment to give yourself time to change your clothes, chat with your Care Advocate, and use our shared space to roll out or stretch. There will not be any paperwork to complete since everything is completed in the app.

What should I bring to my appointment?

We encourage you to wear athletic clothing for your appointment. We have dressing rooms, so feel free to bring a change of clothes and change here. Forgot your clothes or don’t feel like lugging them around? Don’t worry! We’ll have a change of clothes ready for you just in case.

What should I expect after my appointment?

After your appointment, your Care Plan will be generated on the app, complete with videos and descriptions. Throughout your care experience at Motion, our Care Advocate team will check in with you to monitor your progress, keep you motivated, and answer questions.

What is team-based care?

Each of our clinicians is an expert at understanding different kinds of musculoskeletal issues, and offer different perspectives. If you need to see multiple clinicians at Motion, they work together as a team to form a full picture of care.

What clinician types see patients at Motion?

Motion’s clinical team currently includes a Sports Medicine Physician, Chiropractors, Physical Therapists, and Athletic Trainers.

Who are Care Advocates?

Every Motion member gets a dedicated Care Advocate. Think of them as equal parts health coach and care coordinator. They will be here for every visit, check in with you after your appointment, answer any questions you may have through our app, and always go above and beyond for you.

How much is Motion?

The Motion membership fee is $50 a month. Once you are a member, you can book a 30 minute appointment with our care providers for $100 or an hour appointment for $200. See our insurance FAQs for more information.

What’s not included?

Motion currently does not do any medical imaging or surgery. If your Care Team thinks imaging or surgery is the best next step for you, we’ll walk you through the entire process and even help you schedule your appointments and fill out any required paperwork. While this care coordination is included in your membership fee, we cannot charge the cost of the visits we refer you to.
